Storyphile | Your life. Your story. For the people you love.

1. Getting to Know You

Launch your journey with Storyphile with a free, no-obligation consultation.

We’ll meet with you by phone or at your home and chat about your expectations, your budget and your ideas for preserving your life story.

At our first meeting, we’ll get to know each other and decide if we’d like to work together.

You’ll tell us about yourself and how you’d like to do things. You’ll give us a big-picture sense of the people, places and experiences that have shaped your life. And you’ll tell us what is motivating you to tell your story.

We’ll show you some samples of our work, explain our process and answer your questions. We’ll explore your ideas about how you’d like to present your life story.

We’ll suggest some options, and together, we’ll begin to

  • identify the themes and topics you want to talk about
  • figure out how the project fits into your schedule
  • explore the scope you have in mind (For example, are you looking to preserve your full life story? Or just a memorable chapter? Do you want to preserve your story in book form? As audio recordings? As a photo collection?)

If you decide we’re a good match, we’ll move to the next step. We’ll help you explore the options and choose a life story package that best meets your needs. Then we’ll finalize an acceptable schedule, budget and work plan in a letter of agreement.

For most projects, our work with you begins with interviews.

Here’s what you can expect at interview time.

“Writers are the custodians of memory, and memories have a way of dying with their owner. One of the saddest sentences I know is “I wish I had asked my mother about that.”
